Sidra Medicine today announced the appointment of Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, the Minister of Public Health for the State of Qatar, as a member of its Board of Governors.
Speaking about the appointment, Lord Darzi of Denham, the Vice Chair of the Board of Governors and the Chair of the Executive Committee of Sidra Medicine said, “It is a great honour for Sidra Medicine to have a pioneering healthcare leader like Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, the Minister of Public Health join our Board. Her Excellency’s counsel will help strengthen our strategic approach to meeting the healthcare needs of the children and women of Qatar. Her Excellency’s appointment comes at a crucial time as we launch new clinics and services at our recently opened Outpatient clinic whilst continuing progress with the main hospital commissioning.”
Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari was appointed as the Minister of Public Health for the State of Qatar in 2016. She is also the Managing Director of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), the main national provider of hospital care in Qatar. In her capacity as the Managing Director of HMC, H.E. Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari has been credited with transforming the organization into an integrated academic health system that has achieved numerous awards and international accreditations.
Commenting on her appointment, H.E. Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari said, “With a strong patient and family centered focus, Sidra Medicine will be at the forefront of delivering excellent patient care to the women and children of Qatar as well as being a center for world class, research and education and education. I am delighted to be appointed to the Board of Governors and look forward to working collaboratively both with the board and the wider Sidra Medicine organization.”
H.E. Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari is a visiting professor at Imperial College London and is an accomplished speaker and thought leader in the healthcare industry in the region. In addition to being a board member at Sidra Medicine, she holds several other board memberships in Qatar, including with the Joint Commission International; Middle East Advisory Council; the Association of Academic Health Centers International Steering Committee and the Institute of Global Health Innovation. She is also the Chairperson of the board for Qatar Biobank.
