Dr. Shimous Mohammed Elamin Shams Eldin

Dr. Shimous ShamsEldin   is the National Patient Safety Program Lead for the Ministry of Public Health's Healthcare Quality Department. With more than 12 years of experience in patient safety in Qatar. She has a master's degree in clinical pharmacy, International Practice, and Policy from the School of Pharmacy at the University College of London (2011) and is a certified Patient Safety Officer through the Saudi Patient Safety Center. She has participated in several national Quality and Patient Safety projects, all of which have had positive outcomes. She worked as a pharmacist at HMC for ten years and previously in a community pharmacy. She holds numerous certifications in patient safety, auditing, and other fields.   She is a member of several committees and task force teams.
She has some publications in Patient Safety, AMR, and Pharmacy. She is a diligent worker who is constantly striving to improve, develop, and acquire knowledge. Recognized for her exceptional dedication and ability to collaborate effectively with multicultural and multidisciplinary teams. She has an equal amount of enthusiasm for engaging the public and providing appropriate healthcare services.

Dhouha Hamdani

Dhouha is having over a decade of experience in Infection Prevention and control in Qatar and Tunisia. She is currently working as Lead, National Infection prevention and control Program, Healthcare Quality Department.
Previously, she was working in HMC as IPC specialist, as well as the private sector in Qatar. She also served in Ministry of health and private sector in Tunisia.

• Lead the planning, development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of system-wide improvement in infection prevention and control.
• Support and guide healthcare services and other related entities through programs related to infection prevention & control (IPC) and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)
• Serve as a role model to promote the goals of IPC programs within the context of local, and international IPC vision and mission.
• Develop, review policies, guidelines, guidance
• Surveillance of healthcare associated infection and Outbreak management
• Serve as resource and provided consultations on infection prevention and control and liaise with related national, regional and international entities (MOPH, Ministry of Municipality and Environment, Qatar National Tourism Council, Hamad International Airport universities, EMRO, WHO, CDC…)
• Contribute to the national emerging and re-emerging disease Preparedness plan (COVID-19, MERS Cov, Ebola) which included policies, guidance and guidelines, sourcing all logistics required, training staff on Personal Protective Equipment use and simulation training, public awareness and restriction plan and member of different committee and task force teams.
• Co-authored some research papers on varied topics. And authored some abstracts and posters

Dina Schnurman MSN/MBA, RN, CPON, CPHQ

Executive Director - Quality, Patient Experience and Health Informatics:

A nurse with over 20 years of experience in healthcare and dedication to quality and safety, improving clinical outcomes,  clinical practice, and nursing education.

Dina joined Sidra Medicine in 2014. During her time at Sidra Medicine, Dina has continually contributed to the Quality and Patient Safety agenda.

Dina has extensive experience designing, developing and implementing evidence-based, organization-wide systems to drive assessment, improvement and evaluation. She has been instrumental in implementing performance and process improvement in healthcare settings in the United States and the Middle East and in applying change management principles, tools, and techniques at multiple levels throughout her career. Specific projects she has been heavily involved in include standardization of care processes, decreasing time to antibiotic administration, health literacy, and numerous projects related to the management of central lines and CLABSI.
She holds a BA from Rutgers College, a BSN from Old Dominion University in Virginia, a MSN/MBA from Johns Hopkins University in Maryland, and is currently completing her Doctorate in Nursing Practice in Health Systems Executive Leadership at the University of Pittsburgh.

Sumera Farhan

With a profound commitment to healthcare quality and patient safety, Sumera Farhan brings over 11 years of experience in clinical and administrative roles. Sumera’ s journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BScN) from Aga Khan University & Hospital, followed by an MBA in Health Administration and Management from the Institute of Business Management. She has also completed my certification as a Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ).
Currently serving as the  Manager of Patient Safety at Sidra Medicine, she conducts comprehensive and systematic analyses to evaluate patient safety events and drive sustainable improvements in patient safety and quality. Her responsibilities include developing and executing assessment methodologies, spearheading departmental projects, and ensuring the alignment of quality plans with organizational goals. As an integral part of the healthcare ecosystem, she actively contributes to Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) tracer activities and audits, playing a crucial role in ensuring strict compliance with accreditation requirements.
In addition to her current role, she is actively expanding her expertise by enrolling in two advanced programs: the International Certification of Enterprise Risk Management and the Master's Certification for the Just Culture Program. These programs are enhancing her ability to manage risks effectively and foster a culture of accountability and safety within healthcare organizations.
She is also deeply passionate about health literacy and its critical role in patient safety. By improving patients' understanding of their health conditions and treatments, we can significantly reduce medical errors and enhance overall care outcomes. This passion drives her efforts to implement educational initiatives that empower patients and support healthcare providers in delivering clear, effective communication.

Wisal Salih

Wisal Salih, MSc., PGDip, BSc(Pharm), BSc(Chem), RPh,  is a Canadian pharmacist and diabetes educator with immense enthusiasm and commitment to providing effective and optimal health care. She is currently a senior lecturer at the College of Health Sciences at the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST). She has 17 years of experience in a dynamic professional Pharmacy and Health Education Practice and worked as a Pharmacy Manager with Sobeys Pharmacy Group and Lawtons Drugs in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. She has earned a BSc. in Chemistry from Saint Mary’s University and a BSc. Pharmacy from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. She has also earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Diabetes (Distinction) and Master of Science degree in Diabetes (Distinction) from the University of South Wales in the United Kingdom. She has a Certificate in Adult Education, a Certificate in Curriculum Development and a Certificate in Teaching and Developing Online Courses from the Canadian College of Educators, Ontario, Canada.
Ms. Salih worked as the Head of the Patient Care and Health Technology Department at UDST [Previously College of the North Atlantic – Qatar (CNAQ). She was involved in the development of the Master of Science in Diabetes Care and Patient Education (M.Sc.DCPE) Program and the Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Technology Program at UDST. She is skilled in precepting and training Pharmacy Technology and Diabetes Education students in the professional and practical aspects of the professions.

Dr. Ghadir Al-Jayyousi

Dr. Ghadir Al-Jayyousi is an Assistant Professor of Health Education and Promotion in the Department of Public Health at Qatar University. She obtained a BSc in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Jordan, MSc in Community Health Promotion from the University of Arkansas, USA, and a Ph.D. in Health Education from Kansas State University, USA.

Aljori Al-Ajji

Aljori Al-Ajji is a Health and Wellness Educator at Sidra Medicine, bringing 7 years of experience in the field. She holds a bachelor's degree in Public Health Education from Qatar University.
Aljori is a member of the Shared Governance Quality and Patient Safety Council, leveraging her interest in quality projects at both organizational and departmental levels.

Dr. Hussain Alsharshani

Dr. Hussain Alsharshani graduated from a medical school in the United Kingdom. Since 2022, he has been working as a patient educator at Hamad General Hospital. He is currently in his second year of pursuing a master's degree in Diabetes Care and Patient Education (M.Sc. DCPE) at University of Doha Science and Technology.

Dr. Hanadi Al Hamad

Dr. Hanadi Al Hamad has worked in Hamad Medical Corporation in various roles over more than 25 years and is currently the Deputy Chief for Rehabilitation, Geriatric Long-Term Care, and Special education. She is also the Head of WHO Collaborating Centre for Healthy Ageing and Dementia.

Dr. Hanadi Al Hamad is a Board-Certified Senior Consultant in Internal Medicine specialized in Geriatrics. She has successfully pursued a master’s in health care quality from Harvard. She also completed her M.Sc. degree in Healthcare Management from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and was awarded a diploma in Senior Clinical Leaders Program from Harvard University.

Dr. Al Hamad is the Global Dementia Observatory (GDO) Focal Point and the representative for the State of Qatar for WHO Elderly People Care. In the recognition of her vast experience and competences in the field of Geriatric Care, Dr. Hanadi was appointed as the National Health Strategy Lead for Healthy Ageing for the implementation of National Health Strategy 2018-2022, which aims to deliver the ambitious 19 National Health Targets. She is also a Clinical Associate Professor in College of Medicine, Qatar University Medicine and an Assistant Professor in Weill Cornell Medical College-Qatar.

She is also the winner of WHO’s His Highness (HH) Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Prize for Research in Health Care for the Elderly and Health Promotion.

Prof. Mowafa Househ

Prof. Mowafa Said Househ (موفق سعيد حوسة), PhD, a full professor of health informatics in the Arab World and am associated with the Hamad Bin Khalifa University, College of Science and Engineering, at the Qatar Foundation. In 2020, had been selected as a Fellow of the International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics (IAHSI). The IAHSI functions as a distinguished honor society, acknowledging expertise in biomedical and health informatics on a global scale.
His research interests revolve around the utilization of information and communication technologies in healthcare, with a particular emphasis on Artificial Intelligence Technologies to support Consumer/Patient Health Outcomes. Additionally, he harbors a strong interest in the field of digital mental health, striving to leverage technology for the benefit of both patients and healthcare professionals.
In 2020, he had the honor of being the recipient of first place in the United Nations ITU Artificial Intelligence Challenge. Furthermore, his work has been recognized with prestigious awards such as the Researcher Award from the King Abdullah International Medical Research Centre in 2015, the MBC Hope Awards for Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship in 2015, and being named a finalist for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Arab Enterprise Forum competition in 2014. He received couple of recognitions including the Young Researcher Award in 2010 from King Abdullah International Medical Research Centre, the Northern British Columbia Healthcare in Technology Award in 2007, and the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Trainee Award in 2003.
Moreover, he holds the position of adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Victoria's School of Health Information Science in Victoria, BC, Canada.
With a scholarly contribution comprising over 340 research papers and more than 14 books, his  work in health informatics aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application, thereby impacting healthcare practices in the Arab world and beyond.

Dr. Sandra Luebrata Holmes, PhD, RN, CHPE, CHSE, CPHQ, NE-BC, NPD-BC, EBP-C, CENP

Dr. Sandra Holmes has worked in various roles including Nurse Researcher, Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing for Staff Development and Research, Assistant, and Associate Professor. Dr. Holmes worked as an Advanced Practice Nurse for Adult Health and Geriatric services, and as a staff nurse across multiple specialties early in her career. She received her Masters’ and Ph.D. degrees in nursing from the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis, TN in 1999, and 2007, respectively. Her bachelor’s degree in nursing was conferred in 1994 from Memphis State University. She entered nursing as a Diploma graduate from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1992. She has multiple publications and presentations. Her research interests include diabetes, gastroparesis, nursing education, and evidence-based practice development. She is active in a number of professional associations and societies.

Jamie Marie Gray

Ms. Jamie M. Gray, MLS, MS, is the Director of the Health Sciences Library at Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar. Previously, she served as part of the library leadership team at both Stanford School of Medicine’s Lane Medical Library and the University of Washington Health Sciences Library. Her professional interests are varied and include interprofessional leadership, evidence-based practice, health literacy and the library’s role in helping to address the social determinants of health. Ms. Gray holds a Master’s in Library Science from the University at Buffalo and a Master’s in Healthcare Administration and Interprofessional Leadership from University of California – San Francisco

Dr. Yazeed Eldos

Dr. Yazeed Eldos is the current Medical Director of the Qatar Poison Center. He is an attending physician in the department of emergency medicine at Sidra Medicine. He completed his training at the University of Texas, Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. Interests include management of life threatening toxicities and use of antidote in critically ill patients.
