About Haytham Khidir Ahmed Dr Haytham Ali received his medical degree (MBBS) from the University of Khartoum, Sudan in 1994. He completed his training in general pediatrics in the United Kingdom. Following the completion of his training, he became a member and fellow of the Royal College of Pediatric and Child Health (MRCPH-FRCPCH) in 2005 and 2010, respectively. Dr. Ali has also completed subspecialty training in neonatal-perinatal medicine and was issued a Certificate of Completion of Training in Neonatology in 2010. He worked as consultant neonatologist in Leeds, UK and held the title of honorary senior lecturer in Leeds University, UK for 4 years before joining Sidra in 2014. Dr Ali is the lead for neonatal resuscitation in Sidra Medicine, he is an instructor in the Newborn Life Support (NLS) since 2009 and the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) since 2017.
Dr. Ali’s main area of academic interest is in long-term neurodevelopmental outcomes of prematurity. He build experience through contribution to the follow-up studies of large population studies (EpiCure-2) and multicenter randomized controlled trial (BOOST-II UK). His other era of academic interest in infant nutrition and growth, Dr Ali has completed a research project using bioelectrical impedance analysis in preterm infants. Finally, as for his educational activities, Dr. Ali was intimately involved in undergraduate and postgraduate student education and contributed to the supervision of master’s research thesis before joining Sidra Medicine.
