  • About Adrian

    Dr. Adrian Charles is the Division Chief of Anatomical Pathology. He joined Sidra in 2014.
     

    At Sidra, Dr. Charles will lead a team of anatomical pathologists and scientific and technical staff to cover a range of pathology related services including histopathology, cytopathology and mortuary. Services include diagnoses from early miscarriages, perinatal pathology to the full range of pediatric surgical pathology and pediatric cytopathology. Dr. Charles’ team will also provide gynecology related cytopathology and gynecologic surgical pathology as well as autopsy and placental work examining for causes of miscarriages, stillbirths, and prematurity.
     

    Prior to joining Sidra, Dr. Charles worked at Pathwest in Perth Western Australia as one of four consultant pediatric pathologists. He has also held academic positions in the University of Western Australia in Pathology, Pediatrics and Child Health, and also in Women and Infants Health, where he co-supervised PhD students.
     

    Dr. Charles previously worked at the United Bristol Healthcare Trust and the University of Bristol UK for several years from 1993 to 1999. During this time, Dr. Charles worked as a senior lecturer and honorary consultant in pediatric pathology as well as senior registrar and research fellow. He was the co-lead responsible for running the undergraduate pathology programs at the University of Bristol.
     

    Dr. Charles is on the editorial board of the pediatric and development pathology journal and the convener of RCPA QAP Pediatric Pathology until 2015. He is also the co-moderator on the international pediatric pathology discussion list and was the secretary/Chairman from 2006 to 2012 of the International Pediatric Pathology Association.
     

    Dr. Charles is a member of the International Academy of Pathology and Paediatric Pathology Society. He is also a member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK); the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (UK) and an ex-Chair and member of the Australia and NZ Pediatric Pathology Group. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of UK and Australasia as well as a Fellow for Faculty of Science from the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia.
     

    Dr. Charles has a Bachelor as well as Master of Arts in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge UK. He also has a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery as well as a doctorate degree from the University of Cambridge, UK.
