The 9th Qatar Pediatric Emergency Medicine (QPEM) International Conference
Overview
The Qatar Pediatric Emergency Medicine (QPEM) Annual Conference is proud to celebrate its 9th Anniversary. Its goal is to provide high quality, evidence-based updates for healthcare practitioners involved in the urgent and emergent care of children.
At the end of the conference, our multidisciplinary participants will have expanded knowledge on a variety of key topics; be able to recognize and manage common yet potentially serious conditions; be able to discuss research in pediatric emergency medicine; and be able to incorporate quality and patient safety goals into practice.
Conference Objectives
- Recognize serious illness and injury in children presenting to the ED
- Discuss the best evidence in the management of critically ill neonates and children
- Manage a variety of medical, surgical, traumatic, behavioral, and technology-assisted presentations in children
- Review the best articles in PEM for the last year
- Analyze cases using best evidence to critically plan management
- Evaluate clinical pathways in use in pediatric EDs
- Incorporate quality and patient safety goals into daily practice
- Evaluate academic practice in PEM
- Review the interventions needed for a variety of toxicological ingestions
- List the red flags and detail a systems approach when managing trauma

3rd Surgical Annual Research Day (SARD)
Overview
We are pleased to bring back our third Surgical Annual Research Day in 2025.
The acronym SARD in Arabic means “narrating” and is meant to represent the exchange of information.
Lead by the Department of Surgery, SARD 2025 is a multidisciplinary effort to highlight the resources available to our surgical teams, that will enable research in pediatric surgery at Sidra Medicine.Conference Objective
- Describe the current status of research in pediatric surgical subspecialties locally and internationally.
- Outline available resources for clinical research and quality improvement projects.
- Explain the processes required to conduct research or a quality improvement project.
- Appraise and evaluate the selected presented research and quality projects that have been conducted.
