Sidra Medicine, a specialist health care organization for children, young people and women and a member of Qatar Foundation, will host a scholarship open day for national students interested in pursuing studies in the medical field. The event will take place on April 25 from 9.00am to 9.00pm at Sidra Medicine’s Main Hospital Atrium in the Women’s Building.
The Medical and Healthcare Scholarships Open Day is a chance for Qatari students and those students with Qatari mothers to talk to Sidra Medicine’s national development team about scholarship opportunities in medical and allied health related fields. Students will also hear from healthcare professionals who have benefited from Sidra Medicine’s healthcare scheme about their experience.
Scholarships include financial and non-financial assistance in a variety of universities in Qatar and internationally, covering Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy, Nutrition and other fields of study.
Students will also be able to apply for scholarships online and on the spot using specially provided computers. Upon graduation, scholarship recipients are offered a position at Sidra Medicine, thus beginning their career in Qatar’s new specialist hospital dedicated to women, children and young people.
The Scholarship Open Day at Sidra Medicine is an annual event. This is the second time, the healthcare organization has hosted the open day, with last year’s edition welcoming more than 100 students, out of which 15 were shortlisted for scholarships. The initiative is part of Sidra Medicine’s National Development Strategy 2.0, which highlights the organization’s commitment to investing in the growth and development of future Qatari healthcare professionals.
Commenting on the event, Dr. Kholode Al Obaidli, Chief Learning Officer, stated: “Scholarship Open days are the first building blocks in addressing a pressing need to build a national workforce of healthcare professionals able to deliver world-class care to the people of Qatar. Healthcare is one of the noblest professions there is and Sidra Medicine is committed to ensuring that talented nationals have the necessary training tools, mentorship programs and learning opportunities to become future leaders in Qatar’s growing healthcare field.”
