Sidra Orthopedic Symposium – Fractures and Polytrauma (SOS-I) – Maximum CPD 11.75

The Sidra Orthopedic Symposium is a 2 day educational event targeting orthopedic surgeons; emergency department physicians; Nurse Practitioners; nurses; Allied Health professionals including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and orthopedic casting technicians; and anyone else who participates in the treatment and management of pediatric poly-trauma and fractures. The symposium will be held in the Sidra Hospital Auditorium and has a combined lecture/hands-on skills workshop (for surgeons only) format.
Lectures will present the most up to date evidence for treatment of multiple pediatric fractures. Hands-on skill workshops will introduce novel surgical techniques for management of supracondylar humerus fractures and emphasize the importance of age-appropriate treatment of pediatric femoral fractures. Speakers will include local experts from Doha as well as international lecturers from Canada and Switzerland.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
- To describe mechanisms of injury and physiology of pediatric fractures and healing.
- To define the roles of Allied Health in treatment and rehabilitation of pediatric fractures.
- To define pediatric poly-trauma and describe the body’s response to trauma.
- To describe evidence-based treatment of pediatric upper and lower extremity fractures.
