Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate

Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate is the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare for the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Prior to his Ministerial role, Prof. Pate was the Global Director, Health, Nutrition and Population (HNP) Global Practice of the World Bank and the Director of Global Financing Facility for Women, Children and Adolescents (GFF), based in Washington DC. He is also a professor of the Practice of Public Health Leadership in the Department of Global Health and Population at Harvard University.
Former roles include serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Big Win Philanthropy based in the UK as well as several senior positions, including that of Minister of State for Health in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In October 2022, Prof. Pate was conferred with the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), one of Nigeria’s top national honors.
Prof. Pate is an American Board-Certified MD in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, with an MBA in Health Sector Concentration from Duke University, USA. Prior to this, he studied at the University College London and has a Masters in Health System Management from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, UK.
