Welcome Message
On behalf of Sidra Medicine, we invite you to our 9th annual flagship research conference, Precision Medicine & Functional Genomics (PMFG), scheduled for November 11-14, 2023 in Doha, Qatar. PMFG is the largest precision medicine conference in the region, covering a wide range of fields contributing to the advancement in functional genomics and precision medicine with lectures by experts from around the world.
PMFG 2023 will bring together researchers, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and community members to explore the latest developments and innovations in functional genomics and how cutting-edge discoveries have translated into precision medicine solutions.
This year PMFG 2023 will be held in conjunction with the inaugural PMFG Young Scientists Symposium, which will take place on November 9th. The PMFG Young Scientists Symposium is exclusively for junior scientists, e.g. Post-doctoral fellows and younger, and organized by junior scientists. Those interested in attending both meetings must register for each separately, once for PMFG 2023 and once for the Young Scientists Symposium. For more info, please refer to the Young Scientists Symposium tab.
Join us in Doha to discover how Personalized Medicine can move from vision to practice.
Kind regards
- Dr. Bernice Lo, PMFG 2023 Chair
- Dr. Matteo Avella, PMFG 2023 Chair
- Dr. Khalid Fakhro, Chief Research Officer
Precision Medicine takes individual variations in genetics, pharmacogenomics, proteomics, microbiome, environmental, lifestyle factors, and others into account, allowing health care providers to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
Dr. Khalid Fakhro, Chief Research Officer
PMFG 2023 will be an in-person symposium and will revolve around four major themes:
- Large-scale population genomic programs from around the world
- Innovations in functional assays to elucidate disease mechanisms
- Advanced therapies for rare/orphan disorders and cancer
- Population/newborn screening policies and precision public health
- Researchers
- Physicians
- Bioinformaticians
- Clinician-researchers and scientists
- Genetic counselors
- Students
- Nurse practitioner and physician assistants
- Lab professionals
- Pharmacists
- Allied Health
- Public Health
- Public Policy
- Biotech Industry
At the end of the Conference, the participants will be able to:
- Represent the coordinated efforts to develop Precision Medicine around the world and specifically in the Middle Eastern region.
- Examine how large-scale population genomic programs from around the world contribute to precision medicine.
- Illustrate the innovations in functional assays and how they have been implemented to elucidate disease mechanisms.
- Discuss how advanced therapies for rare/orphan disorders and cancer have contributed to precision medicine.
- Explore the value of population/newborn screening policies and their impact on precision public health.
