Sidra Medicine Appoints Prof. Ibrahim Janahi as Chief Medical Officer
Sidra Medicine, a member of Qatar Foundation, has appointed Prof. Ibrahim Janahi as its new Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
A distinguished leader at the Sidra Medicine, Prof. Janahi has previously served as Acting CMO, where he led several strategic initiatives that advanced patient care and strengthened medical training programs.

In his expanded role as Chief Medical Officer, Prof. Janahi will continue to oversee high-quality patient care programs, ensuring that clinical excellence and patient safety remain aligned with Sidra Medicine’s long-term strategy. He will also continue to serve as Chair of Medical Education, Designated Institutional Officer, and Division Chief of Pulmonology at Sidra Medicine.

During his time at Sidra Medicine, Prof. Janahi has been key to building its reputation for academic and clinical excellence. He led efforts to secure ACGME-International and ACCME accreditations, supporting the training of over 400 pediatric specialists and ongoing development of care teams. Most recently, he helped establish the hospital’s Gene Therapy Center for treating rare childhood diseases like Spinal Muscular Atrophy and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
In addition to his roles at Sidra Medicine, Prof. Janahi is a Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine–Qatar. Janahi is the founder and president of the Gulf Society for Pediatric Respirology, a founding member of the Arab Pediatric Pulmonology Association (APPA), and a respected examiner and committee member for numerous medical boards, including the Arab Board and the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health in the UK.
