Sidra Medicine
Dr. Walid Mubarak is one of approximately one hundred dedicated fellowship-trained pediatric interventional radiologists worldwide and one of three hundred pediatric interventional society members internationally.
He is currently a pediatric and adult interventional radiologist at Sidra Medicine. He is the lead for adult interventional radiology services, serving the pediatric and women's patients of Qatar, and has been fellowship trained in both adult and pediatric interventional radiology. To date, Sidra Medicine is the country's sole provider of pediatric interventional radiology services.
Dr. Walid has completed his pediatric interventional radiology training at the Hospital for Sick Children (Sick Kids), University of Toronto, Canada, and organizes several training programs for interventional skills internationally.
He currently Chairs the vascular access committee, is the modality lead for interventional radiology, and heads the CPD/CME continuous working group.
Having completed a diploma in healthcare management from Toronto, Dr. Walid is interested in quality improvement and risk mitigation in the angiography suite, as well as optimizing patient flow and improving cost-effectiveness.
Dr. Walid's areas of interest are vascular interventions, vascular anomalies, airway, oncology and fibroid interventions, medical education, faculty, and professional development. He is the co-founder of several specialty-driven education workshops nationally and internationally. He has also recently been appointed as a Qatari Board Examiner. On a daily basis, Dr. Walid is involved with performing minimally invasive procedures, patient care, teaching, and participating in the multi-disciplinary care of complex patients.
Dr. Walid has published several articles and a book chapter, with current ongoing research projects pending publication. He is also a reviewer for two prestigious interventional radiology journals.
