Abstract Submission

Eligibility Requirements

  • Abstract submission for Oral and Poster presentation is open until 31 July 2024.
  • Selected candidates must register and pay the registration fee in full.
  • Abstracts must be written in English.
  • The Scientific Committee will review all submissions.
  • Abstract content must be unpublished material
  • Submission of an abstract constitutes a commitment by the author(s) to present if selected.
  • International abstracts will be reviewed for travel awards. The top 3 international abstracts will be selected for an award of 800 $ to support travel to Qatar. Funds will be provided as a reimbursement after attending the event.

Review Process

  • Abstracts will be scored on the following criteria:
  • Scientific merit
  • Applicability to MENA Microbiome objectives
  • Originality of work
  • Adequate Sample Size and Statistics
  • Clarity, Punctuation and Grammar

How to Apply

  • Read carefully the guidelines for submission for your desired categories.
  • Abstracts can only be submitted online via email address to: pjalandoni@sidra.org
  • Notification regarding abstract acceptance will be sent to the submitting author via e-mail.
  • Accepted abstracts will be displayed as posters in a designated sections on both days.
  • Oral presentations are included in the scientific program after registration of the presenting author.

Abstract Structure

  1. Title – should be written in sentence structure (capitalize first word and remaining words begin in lower case).
  2. Author names – should begin on the line immediately after the Title. If there are multiple authors underline the name of the presenting author. Indicate all affiliations with a lower-case superscript letter immediately after the author’s name and in front of the appropriate address. Also indicate in superscript who will be the presenting and corresponding author with * and #, respectively. For example:

First name, Last namea,*, First name, Last name,#
a) Department name, Institution, City, Country
b) Department name, Institution, City, Country
*Presenting author
# Corresponding author

Note: Poster title, authors’ names and affiliations must be positioned at the top center of the poster. Leave one line space between the affiliation address(es) and the beginning of the abstract paragraph

c. The abstract paragraph cannot exceed 300 words and is to be written in single-space.
d. State the study’s research objective and rationale, summarize methods and results, and state the conclusions.
e. Abstracts must be data-driven and must include this information in the body of the abstract.
f. All abbreviations should be defined when first used.
g. All presenting authors must register for the conference and pay the registration fees in order to qualify for presentations.

Poster Guidelines

  1. Writing must be in English, must be concise, clear, and grammatically correct.
  2. Poster must be printed on A0 paper (size 80 x 110cm) and is set to portrait orientation.
  3. Text should be readable from five feet away. Use a minimum font size of 18 points.
