Dr. Sindu Balakrishnan
Attending Physician, Pediatric Anesthesia at Sidra Medicine, Lead Pediatric Pain Service
Dr. Balakrishnan joined Sidra in April 2018 after completing medical training - undergraduate and postgraduate, in India in 2000, and joined Hamad Medical Corporation in 2004. She completed fellowships in Pediatric Anesthesiology and Pediatric Pain Medicine from Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto in 2013 and 2014 and joined the Pediatric Anesthesiology team in 2015.
Interests include – Improving pain management in children both in outpatient and inpatient setting. Development of support for children with complex pain and chronic pain in the multidisciplinary setting at Sidra
Lauren Kelly
Clinical Nurse Specialist at Sidra Medicine
Lauren Kelly completed her training in general nursing in 2011 and higher diploma in paediatric nursing in 2013 from Trinity College, Dublin. She joined Sidra in May 2017, and worked in the PACU and PICU prior to joining the Paediatric Pain Service in August 2020. She takes care of the acute and complex pain patients in addition to the pain follow-up clinic.
She is due to complete her Masters in Clinical Pain Management in July 2022.
Dr. Omar Mahmood
Acting Clinical Director of Psychology at Sidra Medicine
Dr. Mahmood is the Acting Clinical Director of Psychology at Sidra Medicine. He has been a clinician in the Department of Psychiatry since 2017. He is also an Assistant Professor of Psychology in Clinical Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College. In addition, Dr. Mahmood is the site director of Psychology Training at Sidra Medicine, overseeing the supervision of practicum students and psychology interns. He frequently gives community lectures on topics of mental health, brain development, and psychology from an Islamic perspective.
Dr. Ramesh Menon
Dr. Menon is Currently working in Bendigo, Australia. He has previously worked as Consultant positions at Sidra Medicine (2018-21), Christchurch, New Zealand (2011-2018) and Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom (2006-2011). He has Trained in India and Specialist Registrar training in the UK (2001-2006) with a Fellowship in Paediatric Anaesthesia from GOSH London (2003-2004).
He has long experience in Pediatric anaesthesia and pain management in a variety of settings with a special interest in pediatric airways (panellist on the DAS 2005 guidelines), regional anaesthesia and neonatal anaesthesia. He is involved in audit and quality improvement projects at all hospitals employed.
He is also extensively involved with teaching both Anaesthesia Residents and Medical Students (Examiner for MBChB in the UK). His involvement with the Essential Pain Management program in 4 countries led to development of the companion mobile Application. He is a regular speaker and chair at the Indian Society of Pediatric Anaesthesia Annual Conferences.
Dr. Stephanie Sharp
Child life specialist
Stephanie Sharp received her M.S. in Child Life and Family Centered Care from Wheelock College in Boston in 2010. Stephanie worked as a child life specialist in Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston Medical Center, and Shriners Hospital for Children, Boston prior to joining Sidra in 2017. Stephanie helped establish the child life role in the Pediatric Emergency Department, and currently works as the primary child life specialist in diagnostic imaging.

Dr Tripiti Sinha completed her residency in Anesthesia from Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India. She went on to complete her Fellowships in Pediatric Critical Care and Pediatric Anesthesia from Sickkids, Toronto following which she joined as Consultant in Pediatric Anesthesia at Hamad Medical Corporation under the aegis of Sickkids International in 2012. During her tenure, she played a key role in establishment of safe Pediatric Sedation Services and Pediatric pain services at HMC. In 2018, she joined Sidra Medicine as Attending Physician in Pediatric Anesthesia and is an active member of the Pediatric Pain Team at Sidra since its inception. With more than 10 years of her exclusive Pediatric Anesthesia practice, she packs extensive experience of managing babies and children with various comorbidities including difficult airway under her belt. She has special interest in teaching and training, she is currently the Site Director for Pediatric Anesthesia Training program and Program Director for Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship at Sidra, she is also Course Director for Medical Communication Skills course and instructs many courses at Hamad international Training Centre. She has been an invited speaker at various national and international conferences In India and Qatar.
