Dr Samantha Black is the Patient Information lead at the Royal college of Anaesthetists (RCoA), U.K. She is a consultant paediatric and perioperative anaesthetist at Medway NHS Foundation Trust.  Along with her interest in adult colorectal surgery and cardiopulmonary exercise testing/ prehabilitation, she has a keen interest in paediatrics, being part of the Association of paediatric anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland (APAGBI) paediatric perioperative group, producing the first best practice guidance in paediatric preassessment Her interest continues in preparing patients for surgery, consent and anxiety management, along with ‘waiting well’ for operations by thinking about healthy lifestyle choices.  She led and produced ‘Dennis has an anaesthetic and Dennis Challenges’ with the well known comic in the U.K. called the ‘beano’ which has been downloaded internationally.

Franco Moscuzza

Dr. Franco Moscuzza

Dr Franco Moscuzza is Chairman for Department of Anesthesiology at Sidra and Co-Chair for the Conference. He qualified from Guy’s Hospital Medical School in 1988 and after initially starting his training in General Medicine switched to Anesthesia and developed subspecialty interests in Pediatric and Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia. He was appointed as a Consultant to Guy’& St Thomas’ Hospitals Trust in 1998. He held a number of educational and administrative posts including College Tutor, Pediatric Life Support Course Director, Clinical Lead for Theatres and Chair of the Surgical Safety Committee before being appointed Director of Anesthetics and Theatres.In 2007 he completed an MA in Medical Ethics & Law, founded and Chaired the hospital Clinical Ethics Committee and was subsequently appointed onto the Board of Trustees of the UK Central Ethics Network. He has been the Chair of the Clinical Ethics Committee since inception.

Tripiti Sinha

Dr. Tripiti Sinha

Dr. Tripiti Sinha is Senior Attending in the Pediatric Division of Anesthesiology at Sidra and Co-Chair for the conference. She completed her residency in Anesthesia from Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India. She went on to complete her Fellowships in Pediatric Critical Care and Pediatric Anesthesia from Sickkids, Toronto following which she joined as Consultant in Pediatric Anesthesia at Hamad Medical Corporation under the aegis of Sickkids International in 2012. During her tenure, she played a key role in establishment of safe Pediatric Sedation Services and Pediatric pain services at HMC. She has special interest in teaching and training, she is currently the Site Director for Pediatric Anesthesia Training program and Program Director for Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship at Sidra, she is also Course Director for Medical Communication Skills course and instructs many courses at Hamad international Training Centre. She has been an invited speaker at various national and international conferences In India and Qatar.

Dr. Sindu Balakrishnan

Dr. Sindu Balakrishnan is Attending Physician in Pediatric Division of Anesthesiolgy at Sidra and Menber of Scientific Committee for the conference. She is the lead for the pediatric pain service at Sidra Medicine which provides pain management for medical, surgical and complex patients. Dr. Sindu is also an instructor in multiple life support courses, airway and sedation courses conducted by the Hamad International Training Centre. Prior to joining Sidra, Dr. Sindu worked at Hamad Medical Corporation in various areas – starting in surgical and trauma ICUs, Emergency department, adult anesthesiology, Pain management and finishing with Pediatric anesthesiology.

Dr. Andrew Durward

Dr. Andrew Durward has been a senior consultant in cardiac intensive care at Sidra Medicine since December 2017. Prior to this, Dr. Durward worked as a consultant in pediatric care for over 20 years at Evelina Children’s, Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London. Dr. Durward’s special interests include extracorporeal life support where he is pediatric ECMO director at Sidra Medicine and leads a complex airway and interventional bronchoscopy service including airway stenting. His areas of special interests are Bronchoscopy and airway stenting, Mechanical ventilation, Extracorporeal life support, Renal Replacement Therapy and Acid base and electrolyte disorders and DKA.

Dr. Jiju John

Dr. Jiju John is Senior Attending in Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia Division of Anesthesiology at Sidra Medicine and Member of Scientific Planning committee for the conference. He graduated from Madurai Kamaraj University in India and completed his residency in Anesthesiology from the Manipal Academy of Higher Education. Thereafter he completed a fellowship in Cardiac Anesthesia. For six years after his training, he worked as a specialist and later as a senior specialist in Cardiac anesthesia at a busy cardiac institute in Cochin, India. He joined Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) in 2006 as a Consultant in Cardiac Anesthesia and was later promoted as a Senior Consultant. While at HMC he has been fully engaged in the Anesthetic management of pediatric as well as adult patients with congenital heart defects who present for corrective surgery and cardiac catheterization. He is is a Member of the College of Anaesthetists of Ireland.

Noora

Dr. Noora Al Shahwani

Dr. Noora Al-Shahwani is an accomplished pediatric surgeon and serves as the Research lead for the Department of Surgery and the Program Director for General Surgery Residency at Sidra Medicine. She is also the Associate Program Director of Pediatric Surgery fellowship at Sidra Medicine. She completed her medical education at Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar and went on to complete her residency in pediatric surgery at Hamad Medical Corporation, becoming Arab Board certified. She then pursued further training, completing a General Pediatric Surgery fellowship at McMaster Children’s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and obtaining a Master's degree in Health Research Methodology at McMaster University. She has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at numerous conferences. Her work has focused on a range of topics, including the management of pediatric inguinal hernias, the pathophysiology of intestinal failure associated liver disease, and the management of aero-digestive foreign bodies in children.

Dr. Moataz Adham

Dr. Moataz Adham is  Attending Physician in Pediatric Division of Anesthesiology at Sidra Medicine. He came from Hamad Medical Corporation where he has been practising as a pediatric anesthesiologist for around six years. Dr Moataz has many years of clinical experience in the perioperative management of neonates, infants and kids in all of the aspects of pediatric surgical subspecialties (except for pediatric cardiac and transplant) . He has underpinned his  expertise with Pediatric Anesthesia fellowship training at the Children’s Hospital Of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) affiliated with the University Of Ottawa. He has special interest in neonatal anesthesia, pediatric airway and education. He will be involved in residents teaching and staff educational CPD programs at Sidra. He has co-authored several publications in major peer reviewed journals and will be contributing to research activity in the department of Anesthesia at Sidra.

Dr. Samuel Bass

Dr. Samuel Bass is a Senior Attending Physician in Pediatric Division of Anesthesiology at Sidra Medicine. He qualified in London in 1988 and commenced Anesthesia training in London, including a fellowship at Great Ormond Street in London. Dr. Bass was a Consultant Anesthetist with a special interest in pediatrics at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge from 1998-2017 and a senior attending Anesthesiologist at Sidra Medicine. He was divisional director of Surgery and a Consultant Anesthetist at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Kings Lynn, UK from December 2021 until April 2022.

Dr. Syed Huda

Dr Huda  Syed has been working at Sidra Medicine since January 2019, as Attending Physician in the Department of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Sidra. His particular interest is dealing and managing Trauma and Acute medical and surgical emergencies in the Adult and pediatric population. During his career, he has lead and managed Mass casualties and Bomb blast victims as well. He has great interest in teaching my junior colleagues, peers and Nursing colleagues. To excel in providing for his role as an Educator, he completed his fellowship in Adult & Medical education from the American College of Emergency Physician.

Mohammed Ramadan

Mohammed Ramadan

Dr Ramadan joined Sidra Medicine in December 2021 as Senior Attending Pediatric Anesthesiologist. Previously, he worked in KFSH&RC in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Dr Ramadan completed fellowship in Great Ormond Street Hospital and Royal Brompton as well Royal National Orthopedic Hospital, London

Dr Bilal Kabbara

Dr. Bilal Kabbara EBEORL, MD

Dr Bilal is a pediatric otolaryngologist with a special interest in ear surgery with hearing restoration, in addition to endoscopic sinus surgery and pediatric tracheostomy care.

After earning his medical degree from the Lebanese University in 2008 and completing his residency program in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, Dr. Bilal did Fellowship training in Otology and Pediatric Otolaryngology at CHU-Toulouse in France (2013-2015).

He returned to Lebanon, where he worked as a Consultant ENT in the private sector for 5 years before joining Sidra Medicine in 2020 as senior attending physician.
