        Gastroenterology Study Day


        Overview

        From 2016 and now on its 7th year, Sidra Medicine’s Gastroenterology Division allocates one day each year to discuss gastrointestinal problems that are commonly seen in the primary care and secondary care facility in Qatar with physicians, nurses, pharmacists and allied health professionals to raise the awareness of these problems and provide a discussion about best practice in approaching patients suspected to have any of these gastrointestinal problems.

        Since its initial offering in 2016 this event is well attended by healthcare professionals. For the October 13, 2022 blended session (live at the Sidra Auditorium and live streamed via MS teams) around 100 participants registered and attended. Four side-by-side practical sessions were also offered were participants got to see and make hands-on experience on various procedures and services offered by the Gastroenterology team.

        Conference Objectives

        Discuss gastrointestinal problems that are commonly seen in the primary care and secondary care facility in Qatar with physicians, nurses, pharmacists and allied health professionals to raise the awareness of these problems and provide a discussion about best practice in approaching patients suspected to have any of these gastrointestinal problems.

        Facilitate the referral process from the primary and secondary care to Sidra services by giving guidance on referral criteria.

        Raise the awareness of available evidence-based management approach of commonly seen gastrointestinal problems among health care providers in Qatar which will ensure a better patient care and outcomes.

          Overview

          The in-person conference explores the topic of primary/genetic immune dysregulation from a multidisciplinary perspective, in collaboration with the MENAT-NIAID initiative. This marks the inaugural primary Immune Dysregulation conference to be hosted by Sidra Medicine in the State of Qatar. The lineup of invited speakers and the scientific committee comprises global authorities in the field, specifically featuring experts from the MENA region and the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

          Physicians and scientists who are interested in this area are warmly welcomed to register.  Registration is free but will be limited, so be sure to register as soon as possible to reserve a seat.  This conference is most suited to basic/clinical researchers who are active in the field, and clinicians who take care of patients with inborn errors of immunity (IEI), also known as primary immunodeficiencies (PID). The event will also be of interest to physicians from a range of specialties who provide clinical care for these patients, including Gastroenterology, Hematology/Oncology, Pathology, Pulmonology, and Rheumatology.                     Overview

                    Becoming a health literate organization depends on many aspects. One of these aspects is educating staff to improve their health literacy skills and consequently improving patients’ health outcomes.  The health Literacy Education workshop is aimed at clinical staff from hospitals and clinics to enhance their knowledge as well as provide them with the necessary tools to overcome barriers.

                    The workshop content is evidence based and some of the topics are adapted from the Agency for Healthcare and Research Quality (AHRQ). This activity is category 1 & 3 and attendees will receive CPD points.
