Dr. Andrés Pérez-López has been a Senior Attending Physician in Microbiology at Sidra Medicine since 2017.  Before joining Sidra Medicine, Dr. Pérez-López worked as a Consultant Microbiologist and Infection Control Doctor for five years for the National Health Service in England and Scotland. Previously, he worked as a consultant pediatrician and lead clinician for pediatric infectious diseases for nine years at Manacor Hospital in Spain.

Dr Pérez-López has played a pivotal role in implementing novel and cost-effective diagnostic tests for infectious diseases and optimizing antimicrobial prescribing practices at Sidra Medicine. He has also authored more than 30 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, mainly focused on the molecular characterization of antimicrobial resistance mechanisms in the pediatric population of Qatar using whole-genome sequencing.
