Dr. Levis was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, where he attended medical school at the University of British Columbia. He then completed a residency in emergency medicine in Ohio, after which he undertook a critical care fellowship and anesthesia residency at the University of Toronto. Upon graduation he spent ten years at Ontario’s Southlake Regional Medical Centre, for five years of which he was chief of anesthesia.

The Hospital for Sick Children invited him to join them in 1999, and in 2001 he departed for family reasons to undertake a five year career in rural medicine and physician leadership in British Columbia. Upon his return to anesthesia, he rejoined Sick Kids until his arrival in Doha in February 2012. Since then he has helped to assemble a team of pediatric anesthetists at Hamad Medical Corporation, as well as recruiting more team members to Sidra Medicine.

Now an integrated team firmly based at Sidra Medicine, he is very proud to lead what is surely the finest group of pediatric anesthetists in the region.
