Rehabilitation Medicine
Rehabilitation Medicine Services at Sidra Medicine
Rehabilitation medicine is dedicated to managing the health needs of children with special needs from infancy through their teenage years. Some children are born with special needs. Others suffer a serious injury or illness that has changed their ability to move and play. This can be difficult for parents, but there are many ways children with special needs can show progress. Our goal for every child is to maximize their health, function, and well-being by giving high quality rehabilitative care. Our team includes exceptionally qualified doctors, nurses, and therapists who work together to develop the best treatment plan for each child to live the fullest life possible.

The family is at the center of everything we do. We know that parents are their child’s best advocates. We want parents to understand their child’s condition so they can make the best decisions. Rehabilitation shows children what they are really capable of. Special needs should not stand in the way of a child living a happy, fun, and productive life. Programs and Clinics
Movement Disorders Clinic:
The Movement Disorders Clinic helps address problems such as spasticity (uncontrollable muscle stiffness) and dystonia (involuntary, abnormal jerking or twisting movements) in children and young people who have not responded to medications and therapy. These children may benefit from state-of-the-art surgical interventions such as selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) or intrathecal baclofen pump therapy (ITB). The most common diagnosis seen at the clinic are children with cerebral palsy, but other children with spasticity or dystonia may benefit.
