The services provided at the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine at the Sidra Outpatient Clinic include:
- Accurate pregnancy dating using advanced ultrasound
- Prenatal non-invasive screening tests for chromosomal defects like trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome) that reduce the risk of harm to the baby.
- Ultrasound screening to confirm normal fetal development and to exclude structural fetal anomalies or physical defects.
- Second opinion ultrasounds
- We offer genetic counseling to couples with a current of previous history of congenital anomaly or genetic disease
- We arrange genetic counseling, investigations and referral for more intensive aspects like pre-implantation genetic diagnosis where required, particularly for diseases or conditions that may run in families.
- Diagnosis and treatment to fetuses with a suspected congenital anomaly
- Intensive monitoring and regular assessments for babies with abnormal growth problems and have experts in the care of babies with intra-uterine growth restriction.
- Specialized services for the diagnosis of abnormal placental invasive disorders, diagnosis and care of congenital heart abnormalities and other cardiac defects that arise in later pregnancy.
- Counselling and specialized information that may help mothers better prepare for the birth of their child including the option of delivery in a setting that will permit rapid access to specialist surgical or medical care.
