Pediatric Neuro Imaging

Neuro imaging provides valuable information on the brain and spinal system, allowing us to diagnose neurological conditions such as epilepsy, metabolic, and genetic disorders in early childhood. Neuro image tests are not painful, but your child will need to sit still for several minutes or hours. At Sidra Medicine, our radiology team is trained to work with kids and help them feel calm and comfortable in the hospital.

Many neurological conditions develop during childhood and adolescence. If your child has recently suffered an injury to the head, face, or back and has acted differently ever since, a doctor will probably recommend a neuro imaging test.

The following physical symptoms may indicate neurological damage or a neurological disorder:

  • Frequent headaches or migraines
  • Blurry vision
  • Fatigue
  • Difficulty concentrating in school
  • Twitchy, erratic movements
  • Aggressive behavior
  • Difficulty maintaining balance
  • Strange lumps on the neck or spine
  • Numb, tingling feelings in the arms or legs

These could be symptoms of a neurological disorder, but it is important to have an official diagnosis made before assuming anything. A neuro imaging test can tell us if there are any abnormalities in the brain or spine that need treatment.
