Endocrinology and Diabetes

We provide family-centered psychosocial and clinical care using the latest technological approaches to glucose monitoring and insulin delivery. Services are provided on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. Our clinical research team is focused on finding better ways to treat endocrine disorders, especially cases of diabetes mellitus in children.

Depending on the kind and severity of endocrine disease and which hormone is affected, symptoms can vary for patients.

  • Extreme tiredness or fatigue
  • Frequent urination
  • Rapid weight loss
  • Unusual thirst or dehydration
  • Frequent hunger
  • Skin color changes
  • Seizures
  • Early or delayed puberty
  • Poor growth

Programs and Clinics:

  • We offer diabetes technology (insulin pumps and glucose sensors) and dedicated insulin pump clinics for children with all types of diabetes mellitus. More than 400 children are currently on the most modern insulin pumps and glucose sensors.
  • The division has developed a 10-day initiation protocol for closed-loop systems in people with Type 1 diabetes previously treated with multiple daily injections. This protocol is simple, unique and presents a smooth transition for using diabetes technologies to improve glycemic control and quality of life. Several diabetes centers in the Middle East, Asia and Europe have adopted the protocol.
