Sepsis is a life threatening complication of an infection. Anyone can develop sepsis, but it’s more common and most dangerous in children, older adults and those with a weakened immune system. Sepsis is only known to 7 – 50 percent of the population. This lack of knowledge and awareness makes sepsis the number one preventable cause of death worldwide.

The World Sepsis Day is an initiative by the Global Health Alliance and was established in 2012. In conjunction with the World Sepsis Day held annually on September 13th, Sidra Medicine will organize and host the Qatar 6th National Sepsis Symposium to join the global movement in the fight against Sepsis. Sidra works towards the early recognition and treatment of sepsis, improving the chance of survival of every pediatric, maternal and neonatal patient

This is a multidisciplinary educational event for healthcare providers involved in the care of patients with sepsis. The symposium provides an opportunity to share updates in maternal, pediatric and neonatal setting, highlights recent development in sepsis care, including myths and facts, antimicrobial therapy and sepsis awareness.

The symposium will also highlight Qatar’s commitment through the Ministry of Public Health’s national initiative against sepsis and quality improvement.

This year’s symposium features a prominent line up of keynote speakers from Sidra Medicine, Hamad Medical Corporation, Ministry of Public Health and Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute.
